BONTOC, Mountain Province (PIA)--The Bureau of Fire Protection – Bontoc Fire Station recently conducted a Fire Olympics for their student interns to test their knowledge on fire prevention gained during their internship.
The 32 Criminology student interns of the Mountain Province State Polytechnic College were tested on their knowledge on firefighting using portable fire extinguisher; rescue- application of knot tying, bandaging, splinting, rescue carries, and patient packaging; bucket relay and firefighting using fire truck with three sub categories namely direct attack, blitz attack, ladder management.
SFO1 Clifford T Chinalpan, the Designated Intern Handler at Bontoc Fire Station, said the activity was aimed to assess the knowledge acquired by the students on their on the job training at the fire station.
Through this activity, they will get the feeling of being a fire fighter. Being equipped with these skills make them responders and additional resources in their respective community in times of any incident, he said.
It was also designed to strengthen team dynamics while working under pressure applying the different skills demonstrated to them, Chinalpan added.
