CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)--By supporting the 18-day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) through the Gender and Development (GAD) Council, the local government's "angels" granted the Christmas wishes of 200 children of women in especially difficult circumstances through the Project Angel Tree.
The wishes were hung on the Christmas tree, and the angels granted the children's wishes. The recipients came from Barangay Carmen, Gusa, Tablon, Cugman, and Bulua, which were chosen because they had a lot of women in hard situations.
Aside from the giving of gifts, the children were also entertained with a magic show and mascots.
Chaired by City Mayor Rolando A. Uy and Chief of Staff Sheila B. Lumbatan as the co-chairperson of the GAD Focal System (GFPS) together with Imee Rose P. Moreno, vice chair; Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez of the 20th City Council; department managers, division chiefs, and consultants, the city's GAD council is recognized as "angels" to the wishes of the children for the said project.
Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Department Manager Kathleen Kate D. Sorilla and colleagues Cheryl Moncay, Ma. Carlota Cabading, Lynn Guzman, and Almira M. Abao are also among the angels who contributed to making the children happy through granting wishes. (RTP/PIA-10)
