PGMO ushers in Yuletide cheer with Christmas lighting ceremony

MISAMIS ORIENTAL (PIA)--The Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental (PGMO) and the Misamis Oriental Provincial Tourism Council held their annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony to formally usher in the yuletide season in the province, December 1.

"As we celebrate this Christmas season, may we never forget that the true spirit of Christmas is not only the material things, it is not about what we give or receive; it is love that is the true spirit of Christmas," Provincial Tourism Council Co-chairperson Erlinda Unabia shared.

Composed of various light fixtures, the Capitol grounds were embellished with colorful lanterns complementary to the building’s facade, an outdoor Christmas tree, and an illuminated "I love MisOr" display.

The PGMO hopes that it will bring the spirit of the season much closer to the people, despite the current challenges being experienced by everyone, such as the COVID-19 virus and the inflation of commodities.

"As the Christmas tree and lanterns are lit in the night, may it serve as a reminder in everyone’s hearts to allow the real spirit of Christmas to be felt and experienced not just for this month but also the whole year come 2023," she said. (JAKA/PIA-10/Misamis Oriental)
