CANTILAN, Surigao del Sur -- The Department of Environment and Natural Resources-CENRO Cantilan in Surigao del Sur successfully turned over the donated logs from the mining companies to the Local Government Unit of Cantilan for the various projects of the LGU including the rehabilitation of footbridges on January 16, 2023.
The donation of logs was confirmed with the signing of the Deed of Donation between DENR-CENRO Cantilan, chief Forester Gay P. Resullar and Mayor Philip A. Pichay of LGU-Cantilan.
Said donation was facilitated per request of the LGU to provide lumber needed for the construction of houses of the Typhoon-affected families in the municipality.Meanwhile, some 2,000 board feet of donated forest products (logs) were successfully turned over to the Department of Education (DepEd) - Surigao del Sur Division headed by its Schools Division Superintendent, Josita B. Carmen.
The donated forest products will be used by the Division Office for its improvement and other office essentials, including minor repairs of its buildings located in Barangay Mabua, Tandag City.
It was learned that other learning institutions within the area of responsibility (AOR) of CENRO Cantilan were also given purposely for the PROJECT CARE (Ceiling, Roofing and Truss Enhancement) of the schools.
Accordingly, it was highlighted in Executive Order No. 23, series of 2011, under Section 2.7 stated that “the Department of Education shall be given priority in the use of all confiscated logs/lumber”.
Meanwhile, the DENR-CENRO Cantilan which is located at Brgy. Magosilom is open to serve the public.
