PGI assures BRO scholars, tobacco farmers an increase in assistance next year

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) - - The Provincial Government of Isabela (PGI) will increase the assistance to be given to BRO scholars and tobacco farmers next year, Governor Rodolfo Albano III assured.

Gov. Rodolfo Albano III made the assurance during the distribution of P3 million assistance to BRO scholars and tobacco farmers in Quezon town last week.

Albano said an additional P2,000 will be given to BRO scholars and P25,000 to tobacco farmers.

Presently, BRO scholars receive P3,000 allowance while tobacco farmers receive P6,000.

“Sa ating mga BRO-scholars, sa taong 2024, dadagdagan namin yung allowance ninyo, gagawin naming P5,000.00 (To our BRO scholars, we will increase your allowance to P5,000 next year)," Gov. Albano said.

Gov. Rodito also guaranteed that tobacco farmers will receive at least P50,000 each from both the municipal and provincial government from he tobacco excise tax this year.

“Sa inyong mga tobacco farmers, itong ibinigay namin sa inyo ay P6,000 pero sa susunod makakatanggap kayo ng P25,000.00 sa municipal government. Sa amin sa probinsya, P25,000 din. Siguro matatanggap ninyo ito sa Marso. (To you our dear tobacco farmers, this P6, 000 that we are giving you will be increased to P50,000 in which P25,000 will come from the LGU and P25,000 from PGI, and this may be given by March)," Albano said. 

Albano also assured that tobacco farmers will receive each 10 kilos of rice monthly. He said the PGI will also try to give 10 kilos of rice each to teachers and barangay tanods monthly. (OTB/MGE/ PIA Isabela)
