RJJWC urges PLGUs to establish Bahay Pag-Asa for CICLs

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) - - The Regional Juvenile Justice Welfare Committee (RJJWC) is crafting a resolution urging the five provinces of Region 2 to establish their respective Bahay Pag-Asa for Children in Conflict with the Law (CICL).

Under the proposal, the committee wants to promote and request the establishment of Bahay Pag-Asa in the provinces to accommodate minor offenders and to serve as facilities for counseling, Juvenile Intensive Sports Centers and for CICLs behavioral management.

Based on data from Provincial Social Welfare and Development Offices in the region, there are existing Bahay Pag-Asa in Isabela particularly in the cities of Cauayan and Santiago but could cater to limited number of CICLs only.

The RJJWC will be forwarding the final copy of the resolution to the Social Development Committee for endorsement to the Regional Development Council for appropriate action.

The RJJWC is optimistic that the resolution for the establishment of Bahay Pag-Asa in each province in the region will be given appropriate action by the RDC. (OTB/ MGE / PIA Isabela)
