CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) - - The Department of Agriculture (DA) - 2 is set to construct the 8th Biosecure Swine Housing facility in the town of Mallig this province.

DA-2 Regional Executive Director Narciso Edillo, DA 2 Livestock Coordinator Dr. Bryan Sibayan and Mallig Mayor Jose Philip Calderon led the groundbreaking held on January 18, 2023.

“This is the 8th biosecure swine facility in Isabela and the 17th in Region 2. We hope that we can now bring repopulation in full swing to revive the hog business devastated by the African Swine Fever,” Sibayan said.

Sibayan also said there are already seven facilities to rise in Isabela and some already have started construction.

Meanwhile, Mayor Calderon assured to work with DA RFO 2 and the Mallig Dairy Multi-purpose Cooperative, the beneficiary of the facility, to ensure safety measures are implemented and observed. (OTB/MGE / PIA Isabela)
