DOLE leads preparation for the 1st Occupational Medicine Week

QUEZON CITY, (PIA) -- Labor Secretary Bienvenido E. Laguesma met the Philippine College of Occupational Medicine, Inc. (PCOM) Officers led by its National President Dr. Anna Sofia Victoria S. Fajardo to discuss initial plans for the forthcoming celebration of the 1st Occupational Medicine Week on March 18-21, 2023. 

Proclamation 1316, series of 2022 declared the 3rd week of March every year as Occupational Medicine Week.

Under the Proclamation, the Department of Labor and Employment, through the Occupational Safety and Health Center, in coordination with relevant non-government organizations and professional associations, is directed to promote the observance of Occupational Medicine Week.

The Proclamation further states, there is a need to promote awareness of the strategies to prevent and control occupational related disabilities and deaths in the country.

It directed all other agencies and instrumentalities as well as private sectors to actively participate and render the necessary support and assistance to the Occupational Safety & Health Center (OSHC) for the effective implementation of the Occupational Medicine Week.
