QUEZON CITY, (PIA) – Parañaque City government awarded the city’s top taxpayers giving them due recognition for their significant contributions making the city one of the richest in the country.
Parañaque’s top 10 real property taxpayers, Top 10 corporate taxpayers, and top 5 single proprietor taxpayers were honored during the Gawad Parangal where Mayor Eric Olivares highlighted the important role that taxpayers serve in facilitating a higher standard of living with better social and economic trajectory.
“The city of Parañaque has certainly gone a long way in terms of socioeconomic development from a sleepy coastal town to becoming one of the most dynamic urban centers in the country today” Olivares said.
“Today, we are here to witness up close and personal the main drivers of such rapid urbanization and development - our top taxpayers, both individuals and corporations, who have been diligently supportive of the city’s socioeconomic activities through their taxes,” he added.
Among the top 10 real property taxpayers awardees are the Bay City Commercial (Ayala Malls, Belle Corporation, Eagle 1 Landholdings Inc./Tiger Resort Leisure (Okada), DM Wenceslao, SM Prime Holdings Inc. SM Development Corp., Posh Properties Dev. Corp., MWM Terminals Inc., Bloomberry Resorts/Sureste, Sparc Properties & Realty Corp., and Manila Bayshore Property Holdings.
On the other hand, Johnson and Johnson Phils. Inc., Zuellig Pharma Corporation, Mondelez Philippines Inc., DMCI Project Developers Inc., New Oriental Club88 Corporation, Tiger Resort Leisure and Entertainment Inc., Green Cross Incorporated, Puregold Price Club Inc., Schenker Phils. Inc., and Super Shopping Market, Inc. belong to the top 10 corporate taxpayers.
The Top 5 outstanding taxpayers for the business sector in single proprietorship were named as the V&M Superette, Basket and Weaves Handicrafts Manufacturing, M.I.B Food House Mang Inasal, Stages Design & Construction/Contractor, and Madison Square Marketing.
Olivares also cited how taxpayers in the city contributed to the progress of the city and led the realization of various local government initiatives anchored in providing education opportunities as well as a responsive healthcare system and sustainable job generation.
To date, the city reported that each of its barangay has a public school that totals to 46 educational establishments. Of which, 28 are elementary schools, 16 are secondary schools, and 2 standalone senior high school campuses. There are also 2 city colleges financed by the local government aside from the Alternative Learning System (ALS) for the out-of-school youth.
The local government also proudly shared that each barangay has its own health centers with complete medical facilities and a free public hospital in each district of the city. With the help of taxpayers, the city is prospecting to construct a 7-story building that will house additional bed capacities and doctor offices.
As far as the business sector is concerned, the city houses a total of 27,000 business establishments that cater to the various micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Parañaque. The city Public Employment Service Office (PESO) is also currently pushing forward to employ qualified bonafide Parañaquenos among the said business establishments in the city.
On the other hand, the local government earlier bared that there has been no increase in the real property tax in the last ten years to attract more foreign and local investors.
In 2022, Parañaque City was named as the Top 5 richest city in the Philippines. (PIA-NCR)
