Gov’t shows support for LDS people’s council

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--Recognizing the strides it made and contributed to the province in general, the Lanao del Sur People’s Council (LDSPC) continues to receive support from its members and partners from the government.

Since the council is also made up of active civil society organizations (CSOs), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Lanao del Sur Provincial Director Supt. Jeraniel Taporco said they were glad to have LDSPC there because it helped them get feedback on how they were doing, especially since they don't always do a good job serving the public.

This was also attested to by the Provincial Police Office here, which expressed its continuing support for the LDSPC, saying that this helped them render quality service to the public.

For its part, the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) was happy with how the LDSPC helped them in terms of disseminating the right information to the public.

The commission hoped that the council would still go on for the sake of future generations.

Marawi City Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Anna Zenaida Unte-Alonto, on the other hand, guaranteed that her office is ready to lend a helping hand to the initiatives of the LDSPC that intend to give an advantage to the populace in the Bangsamoro region.

This means, as she emphasized, that a community can never be a community without a school, and a province can never be a community without its people.

"This means that co-owning is important to achieve a better province. I assure you that the City Schools Division of Marawi will always be around to support every movement gearing towards progress and moral governance in the province of Lanao del Sur," said Alonto.

Director of the Provincial Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy Office (PENREO) for Lanao del Sur, Asmarie Labao, also promised to keep supporting all of the council's programs.

He highlighted that the CSOs have also been important in achieving the goals of the council.

"Pinakaimportante sa akin ang close partnership with our civil society organizations because sila iyong nagsusupplement ng services that we bring to the people. Nandito rin kami para suportahan ang lahat ng mga programa [ng people’s council] para sa lahat ng Bangsamoro people," said Labao.

(What is most important to me is the close partnership with our civil society organizations because they supplement the services that we bring to the people…We are also here to support all the programs [of the people’s council] for all the Bangsamoro people)

This month, the LDSPC celebrated its 11th founding anniversary. (CRG/PIA-10/Lanao del Sur)
