Philippine Army to accept walk-in applicants for officer exams in Ilocos Sur

VIGAN CITY, Ilocos Sur (PIA) — The Philippine Army Recruitment Office Luzon will be accepting walk-ins during the Luzon-based Officer Candidate Course (OCC) examinations in the province.

This was stated by Major Deoreynojay Maniwang, Chief of ARO Luzon in the Ammuentayo teleradyo interview on Saturday.

A pre-screening and registration was held at the Divine Word College of Vigan (DWCV) on February 25 and 26.

However, those who are interested may still have their chance by registering through the QR code provided on their official social media page of the same name as their office.

The schedule for the exams will be on February 27 to 28 at the DWCV and on March 1 to 2 at the University of Northern Philippines.

Meanwhile, the Army Qualifying Examination (AQE) and Special Written Examination (SWE) are scheduled on March 3 in UNP.

Applicants must be graduates of Baccalaureate degree, natural-born Filipino citizen, single with no parental obligation, at least five-feet tall both for male and female, physically and mentally fit, and at least 21 years old & not a day older than 27 years old upon taking the oath.

Additionally, Major Maniwang emphasized that they must not have pending cases in any court.  

The requirements are college diploma, Transcript of Records, Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-issued birth certificate and any government-issued identification card.

In the interview, Maj. Maniwang reminded that the applicants are encouraged to at least wear a white shirt, jeans and shoes, and must bring two Mongol pencils.

He invited the listeners of the program to take up the challenge of the Army and provided some tips to the applicants.

"There is time pressure, but just practice, review Basic Mathematics, Abstract Reasoning, English and Verbal Reasoning" he said.

He added, “To the applicants in the whole Region 1, I encourage you to grab the opportunity to serve the country. Goodluck to everyone, we are delighted to be given this opportunity to serve you.”

The result will be verified by psychometricians thru an optical reader and will be released on their official page within two weeks.

He added that they would be glad to accommodate all interested individuals regardless if they are from other provinces. (JCR/MJTAB/ATV, PIA Ilocos Sur)
