Capiz info officers urged to be information gateways

ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) -- Assistant Secretary Karl Louie Fajardo has enjoined the members of the Capiz Association of Government Public Information Officers (CAGPIO) to help in the Philippine Information Agency's "Explain Explain Explain" campaign to make the public understand the government.

Fajarado, who is also the PIA Deputy Director General for Administration and Finance, was the guest of honor and speaker as well as inducting officer during the oathtaking ceremony of the new set of officers of CAGPIO, Feb. 28, at the former Rural Bank of Panay in Panay town.

Asec. and PIA Deputy Director General Karl Louie Fajardo inducts the new set of officers of CAGPIO for the years 2023 to 2024.

"Apart from being the force multipliers, you can start the "Explain, Explain, Explain" campaign in your own little ways. This way, we will be assured that the information that we know will not stop with us as we will become gateways of information," he noted.

The PIA official also congratulated the newly inducted officers led by Commission on Elections - Provincial Office Public Information Officer Ruthche Calixterio as CAGPIO president.

Fajardo added that the presence and support of the information officers during

the CAGPIO gathering manifests that government advocacy and government information dissemination remain "alive" in the province.

The network of PIOs, under the supervision of the PIA, is composed of information officers from various Capiz-based national government agencies, Government-Owned and Controlled Corporations (GOCCs) and local government units.

In her message, Calixterio accepted the challenge to become gateways of information and asked the support of the CAGPIO members to carry out grassroots information dissemination activities.

The CAGPIO gathering also included the orientation on the organization of Barangay Information Officers (BIO) for Panay town and a "Hinun-anon sa Barangay" or barangay consultation activity.

The "Hinun-anon" was highlighted by the presentations of the Home Mutual Development Fund (PagIBIG Fund), Social Security System (SSS) and Philhealth programs and updates. (JBG/AAL/PIA Capiz)
