BAGUIO CITY -- Twenty-eight couples in the city renewed their marriage vows at The Plaza Lodge here on March 2  in celebration of Marriage Week in the city.

Mayor Benjamin Magalong in a message read by his Executive Assistant Billy Candelario, congratulated all the participating couples who have withered the storms of life together. He  enjoined them to help the city create an environment where love and respect are valued, where families can thrive and where marriages can flourish.

“We are here today to honor and celebrate the couples who have made the commitment who have weathered the storms of life together and have come out stronger on the other side. Your love and dedication to each other inspire us all and we are honored to bear witness to your renewal of vows. It is important to remember that no relationship is perfect and that there will be disagreements and conflicts along the way. However, what sets successful marriages apart is the ability of both partners to work through every challenge and support each other.

As a community, let us strive to create an environment where love and respect are, where families can thrive and where marriages can flourish. Let us work together to build a better future for our children and for generations to come,” he said.

This activity of the City Government of Baguio, through the City Social Welfare and Development Office headed by Liza Bulayungan and in partnership with City Council Committee on Social Services Chairperson Elmer Datuin was a highlight of the Marriage Week celebration this year.

Putting premium on marriage as a strong foundation of a family and community, Marriage Week set on  February 7 to 14 is an  institutionalized annual event  in Baguio by virtue of City Council Ordinance No. 10 Series of 2017.(JDP/CCD-PIA CAR)
