PRO-10 urges public to report VAW cases

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)--The Police Regional Office (PRO)-10 called for heightened vigilance against violence against women (VAW).

During the "Kababaihan Para sa Kalambuan" talk show, which was put on by the Department of Tourism-10, PRO-10 spokesperson PMaj. Joann Navarro said all police stations in the region have a Women and Child Protection Desk (WCPD) with police officers who deal with VAW cases and concerns.
She said WCPD officers follow the protocol on confidentiality in handling such cases.

Navarro said that people can also file complaints through the WCPD PROTEN or the PRO-10's Facebook page. They can likewise call the PRO-10 hotline at 09169022528.

"We need the cooperation sa (of) other government agencies, LGUs, and most especially mga kababaihan nga mo-stand up ug (women to stand up and) speak to end this violence. Let us support and encourage one another. Let us not normalize violence against women," she said.

In 2022, PRO-10 recorded 1,548 VAW cases, which was fewer than the 1,633 cases in 2021. (APB/PIA-10)
