Women are front liners of Filipino family - Sen. Imee

NEGROS OCCIDENTAL (PIA) -- Presidential sister and Senator Imee Marcos rallied the country to help Filipino women who are the frontline of each and every family.

In a press conference on March 9, she said women had a hard time over the past three years because mothers, wives, and daughters have been the default caregivers in every home.

“So this is the reason that we are helping the women, particularly in conflict areas- the IPs the solo parents who have very, very difficult time keeping body, soul, and children together,” she said.

Quoting her father, the late former President of the Republic of the Philippines Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr., she said “very often the best Filipino is a Filipina.”

Prior to the press conference, the Senator led the distribution of Assistance to DSWD-Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) in the cities of Kabankalan and Silay, where some 1,000 women received P3,000 each.

She also led the distribution of wheelchairs to women Persons With Disabilities in addition to the cash grants.

In her Facebook before leaving Silay City, Sen. Marcos met with the Young Farmers Challenge grantees who is also an advocate for the education and empowerment of the youths to engage in farming as the government exerts efforts to make it a viable livelihood.
