ILOILO CITY (PIA) -- A back-to-back launching of the bike caravan and fund-raising activity are set to be done on March 26 with the “Bike for Peace 2023” activity led by the Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC) 6.

Guided by the theme “PADYAK Para sa Katahimikan, Kalayaan Tungo sa Kaunlaran ng Ating Bayan,” the bicycle drive mainly aims to foster and advocate protection of children and secure communities.

This will be spearheaded by the 3rd Infantry Division of the Philippine Army, Police Regional Office (PRO) 6, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), and other partner agencies.

The activity’s concept rests in crusading and fostering unity along with the government’s campaign of the whole-of-government and whole-of-nation approach in pursuit of sustainable peace and development in the country.

Meanwhile, the fund-raising event will also be introduced anchored with the theme “Isang Daang Piso Mo, Tulay sa

Pag-aaral Ko,” which seeks to raise funds to support the school needs of underprivileged but scholarly competitive students across the different secondary schools in Panay area.

With this, a registration fee of P100.00 will be collected from each participant, where the proceeds will go to the above-mentioned beneficiaries.

Further, a series of activities were set in line with the Bike for Peace which will commence at 5:00 a.m. from the University of the Philippines (UP) Visayas, Iloilo City Campus to the New Iloilo Provincial Capitol.

Traversing an approximately 8.1 kilometers route, the bicycle caravan will start from UP Visayas Iloilo Campus, following General Luna Street, Jalandoni Bridge, Benigno Aquino Avenue via Iloilo River Boulevard, Jaro Plaza via El 98 Street, Commission Civil Street, Lapaz District Plaza via Burgis Street, Huervana Street, Rizal Street, Taytay Muelle Loney, and will end at the New Iloilo Provincial Capitol.

Capping the activity will be the Peace Covenant Signing and symbolic releasing of white feathered doves, which will be participated in by the RTF-ELCAC 6 members and other participants.

Those who are interested to join the activity may register in their respective agencies, offices, and units, while others can be made through bike groups, G-Cash, malls, and on-site registration. (JBG/AGP/PIA6)
