MANILA, (PIA) -- Former Presidents Rodrigo Roa Duterte and Gloria Macapagal Arroyo on Tuesday evening, March 14, graced the launch of the book, “Night Owl” which details the government’s big-ticket infrastructure accomplishments in the last five years.

Manila Bulletin Publishing Corp. launched the book by Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Undersecretary and former “Build, Build, Build” committee chair Anna Mae Yu Lamentillo at the Manila Hotel in Manila.

Night Owl also narrates the nation’s journey to improved lives and abounding opportunities brought about by Duterte’s massive infrastructure program.

The roads and bridges we have accomplished under the Duterte Administration provided better access to essential services and opportunities for livelihood, enhanced traffic mobility, and improved the economy, even allowing it to survive the pandemic,” Lamentillo said.

It also gives insights on the "Build Better More" program under President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. in improving the lives of Filipinos through digital infrastructure in a bid to ensure universal connectivity so that no citizen is left behind.

Now, the strengthened digitalization efforts of the Marcos Administration will provide Filipinos not only opportunities to learn new technologies but also access to online learning, telemedicine, online banking, and other digital services,” she added.

Lamentillo also shared snippets of her own experience—how she also wished, years ago, for the Philippines to have better roads, and how she witnessed first-hand the massive transformation in the country’s infrastructure network anchored on an infrastructure plan consistent with the Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity.

Also in attendance are Senators Mark Villar, Cynthia Villar, Christopher “Bong” Go and Francis Tolentino, Bases Conversion Development Authority Chair Delfin Lorenzana, and former transportation chief Arthur Tugade.
