DTI holds youth forum on entrepreneurship in Catanduanes

VIRAC, Catanduanes (PIA) - The office here of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) conducted a youth forum at Catanduanes State University last March 9, Thursday. 

According to DTI Provincial Director Maria Belma Escueta, the "Provincial Youth Forum: Consultative Session with Government Agencies" aims to provide relevant information on business registration process, requirements and other updates from DTI, municipal government of Virac and the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR). 

She added that it also endeavours to help the budding young entrepreneurs become more confident in starting and running their own businesses. 

Through its Youth Entrepreneurship Program, the DTI and other government agencies are willing to guide the youth throughout the process of formalizing their chosen business venture, she said.

Fatimah Tanael, DTI business name registration officer for Catanduanes, discussed the business name registration process, requirements and important reminders while Rey Alberto, licensing officer II of Virac, discussed the processing of LGU/Mayor’s Permit. Venus Sta. Ines, BIR revenue officer II for Catanduanes, on her part, explained the BIR registration process while Atty. Emmanuel Remolacio, BIR group supervisor for Catanduanes, provided relevant updates on taxation and latest issuances.

Escueta expressed gratitude to Virac Mayor Samuel V. Laynes; Cristina Yuson of BIR; Catanduanes State University headed by Dr. Patrick Alain Azanza; CatSU Vice President for Academic Affairs Gemma Acedo; CBA-CATSU faculty headed by Dean Ian Aranel; and to the CATSU Accreditation Office for their support and commitment in making the event successful.

DTI stated that they have planned additional actions for the youth sector in 2023, which will be carried out in collaboration with its YEP stakeholders.

The activity was participated by a total of 100 senior students  from CatSu College of Business and Accountancy and   Entrepreneurship. (PIA5/Catanduanes)
