CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga PIA) -- The Bureau of Fire Protection-Tabuk City (BFP-Tabuk) intensified its fire safety campaign to mark this year’s Fire Prevention Month celebration.
F/SInsp Ronald Rivera, City Fire Marshall, reported fire safety inspection is up in public establishments including schools, public markets, barangay halls, hospitals, hotels and boarding houses.
Part of the campaign is the conduct of information-education drive and holding of fire simulation drills to increase public fire safety awareness, he said.
In their inspections, the BFP team found out that dangling wires, improper wire connections, lack of fire extinguishers and fire hydrants and insufficient switch connection were common. Concerned establishments have been notified, Rivera said.
The BFP also recommended the installation of fire hydrant systems in public places like markets as effective fire-fighting facility.
In the first quarter, BFP-Tabuk had recorded nine fire cases of which six were forest fires, two residential and one in a school. There was zero casualty.
He called on the public to increase fire safety awareness stressing fire prevention is everybody’s concern. (JDP/LL-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
