Guv urges LCEs to make MisOcc 'drug-free'

OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental (PIA)--To eradicate illegal drugs and erase the image of the past, Governor Henry S. Oaminal shares his standing order to all local chief executives down to barangays: maintain and, if possible, make Misamis Occidental, a drug-free province.

"Dapat ma-maintain ug kung mahimo, drug-free province na ta as other municipalities and cities sa atong probinsya nga na drug-free na so mao na atong standing order," Oaminal said.

(We should maintain and, if possible, create a drug-free province like other municipalities and cities in our province that are already drug-free, so that is our standing order)

"We all want our image to be a peaceful, prosperous, loving, and happy people, that is our 5Ms," says Oaminal.

The province has exerted efforts and has been continuously doing everything possible to eradicate illegal drugs and erase the image of the past in the province to achieve the goal of the Asenso administration that Misamisnon should be known as a peaceful, prosperous, loving, and happy people.

Under his watch, the governor stepped up the fight against illegal drugs to reduce or eliminate the supply in the province.

"To all Misamisnon, for the past nine months and these three months of 2023, atong na-achieve ang maong mga kausaban ug ang maong mga kaayuhan kana tungod ninyo sa inyong inspiration, your overwhelming support and let us continue to be united and to be cooperative. Atong ipadayon ang atong panagsinuportahay para mapadali nato ug achieve ang atong goal sa pag- asenso sa Misamis Occidental ug pagpuyong Malinawon, Malambuon ug Malipayon," Oaminal said.

(To all Misamisnon, for the past nine months and these first three months of 2023, we have achieved those changes and those benefits because of your inspiration and your overwhelming support. Let us continue to be united and cooperative. Let's continue our support so that we can speed up and achieve our goal of promoting Misamis Occidental and living in peace, prosperity, and happiness)

In terms of drugs, he ordered the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and Philippine National Police (PNP) to intensify the anti-illegal drugs campaign. He also assured the PNP and PDEA that the provincial government of Misamis Occidental will provide all the support they need.

"Kini nga administration, sa atong quest ug observance of good governance, open mi kung naa inyong nakita nga mga some sort of abusive, kahiwian and irregularities. My office is open to receive, to hear so that we can do the appropriate action para ma-support ang among illegal or unsa nga binuhatan weather government officials, employees, or private individuals.

(This administration, in our quest for and observance of good governance, is open if you see some sort of abuse, perversion, or irregularity. My office is open to receive and to hear so that we can take the appropriate action to suppress that illegal or any behavior, whether by government officials, employees, or private individuals)

Oaminal likewise underscored the role of the local government units in making sure of the success of the anti-illegal drug campaign, such as by providing continuous support to the Philippine National Police and other security agencies of the government.

The governor also left an order to the mayors to make sure that their barangay officials are performing their responsibilities because, being at the grassroots, they know better the configuration of the barangays and the people in their areas. (SMRN/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
