Continue to help kababayans in need of assistance, Sen. Go urges

BAGUIO CITY (PIA) - - The Malasakit Center at the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) here will continuously help the Filipino people in this part of the country who are in dire need of financial assistance for the hospitalization services.

Senate Committee on Health Chairperson Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go assured this in his visit to the institution over the weekend, as he enjoined officials and personnel to continue serving the people especially those who are dire need of assistance.

“Unahin po natin iyung ating mga kababayan na mahihirap, iyung mga helpless at hopeless na walang matatakbuhan kung hindi ang inyong ospital. Tulungan po natin silang lahat. Huwag po natin silang pabayaan. Full support po ako sa inyong ospital as Chairman ng Committee of Health sa Senado,” Go said.

Thru Go’s initiative, P30 million was downloaded to BGHMC in February to support funding assistance for indigent patients.

Last March 26 at BGHMC, Go shared that 500 current in  patients get financial assistance under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) funded under his office.

In gratitude to all the frontline workers of BGHMC including security guards and utilities not only for their work on the Malasakit Center but also in their continuing work commitment during the COVID – 19 pandemic, Go brought 2,137 grocery packs for them. Three bicycles, three cellphones and a watch were among the raffle prizes.

The Malasakit Center in BGHMC is among the 157 current assistance center of its kind all over the country, wherein the Department of Health, DSWD, Philhealth, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office and the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation are pooling their health services together to help Filipino indigent patients.

Aside from the BGHMC Malasakit Center Monitoring, Go with fellow Senator Robin Padilla and actor Phillip Salvador also graced the groundbreaking of Super Health Center in barangay Atab, and led the distribution of assistance  to indigent families and victims of the recent fire incident in the public market.
