8,940 dog pets vaccinated in Tabuk

CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga (PIA) --The City Veterinary  Office (CVO)   vaccinated 8,940 dog pets out of the 20,188 dog population in their anti-rabies awareness program, last year.

In the first quarter  this year, the CVO reached out to five  barangays under its regular anti-rabies vaccination program.

City Vet Officer Carmen Wanas  reported that  vaccination of dogs  is done in  the barangays to assure targets are covered.

She  stressed on responsible dog pet ownership as key to rabies prevention. She called on dog pet owners to avail of the CVO services during barangay round-up  where free anti-rabies vaccination, dog pet consultation, responsible pet care and distribution of other pet needs are provided.

The CVO led the culmination program  of  Anti-Rabies Awareness Month with the theme, "Rabies-free na Pusa’t aso, Kaligtasan ng bawat Pilipino".

In line with rabies prevention, the city LGU  passed an ordinance against stray animals.(JDP/LL-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
