NAGUILIAN, La Union (PIA) - The first-ever Dialysis Center in the second district of the province of La Union located at Brgy. Ortiz, beside Epic Mall, was formally inaugurated on Friday, April 21.
The event was spearheaded by La Union Governor Raphaelle Veronica Ortega-David; Naguilian Mayor Nieri Flores; Teresita Garcia, representing Congressman Dante Garcia of the second district; and Josefina C. Laza Luspian, Modern Healthcare Management Company consultant, followed by the blessing of the building which was officiated by Rev. Fr. Eric Ferrer.
The Dialysis Center has 12 stations and will cater three sessions, meaning it can accommodate 36 patients per day.

The establishment of the Naguilian Dialysis Center was made through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) of Modern Healthcare Management Company (MHMC), Hydromed Technical Services (HTS), and the local government unit (LGU) of Naguilian.
The MHMC funded its construction and all its operating expenses, and was supplied by the HTS for the apparatuses needed, while the LGU was provided a free location for its building to ensure its smooth operation.
The Naguilian Dialysis Center will not only be open for the people of this municipality, but also for the nearby municipalities and even nearby provinces.
According to Enrique Soriano Alberto, the Head Admin of the Naguilian Dialysis Center and Vice President for Operations of Hydromed Technical Services, this public-private partnership of Naguilian and MHMC gives more convenience to the people nearby, for they will no longer have to travel to about an hour and to spend on transportation going to other places.
“Napansin namin na wala pang hemodialysis center dito sa central-eastern part ng La Union, that is why we chose Naguilian to be one of our partners because of its geographic location. Our patients can save money going to other places,” said Alberto.
He also added “We want to help patients, that is why they will not have to pay us. Philhealth will pay us. And we also want to ask the support of the LGU to sustain this center.”
Further, this project is also in line with the vision of the present administration of the province to have universal access to basic needs that includes health services.
Gov.

Mayor Flores also extended her appreciation to MHMC for bringing the hemodialysis closer to the people of Naguilian, because this addresses the concern on the increase of morbidity cases in the municipality due to lack of facilities. (JCR/AMB/MJTAB/KDM/PIA Region 1)
