QUEZON CITY, (PIA) --The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) Director General Manuel Antonio L. Tamayo led a two-day collaboration activity with the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) held May 3-4, 2023.
The event aims to enhance CAAP's Air Traffic Management System and strengthen the partnership between the two aviation Authorities.
According to CAAP, the activity is also part of CAAS Director General Han Kok Juan's cooperation, in line with the ICAO - International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) direction of "No country left behind."
CAA Singapore delegation was composed of experts who brought their valuable expertise, including Loo Chee Beng, Director of Aeronautical Telecommunications and Engineering; Vincent Hwa, Director of Air Traffic Services; Joe Chua, Senior Chief ATS; Christina Ong, Head of Air Traffic Management Systems Projects; Bryan Cheng, Head of Information Air Traffic Management Branch; and Ng Jingfeng, Head of Mechanical and Electrical.
The CAAS team's keen observations and recommendations during their visit to the Philippine Air Traffic Management Center (ATMC) played a pivotal role in identifying areas for improvement that would enhance its safety and efficiency.
Both authorities delved into technical topics related to the upcoming maintenance activities, covering contingency plans, best practices, and recommendations to ensure a seamless process.
In a statement, Director General Tamayo said, there was a fruitful exchange of knowledge between CAAP and CAAS, learning from each other's systems and experiences.
Tamayo added that the partnership will aid in strengthening CAAP's Air Traffic Management System, to pave the way for safer and more efficient air travel.
“It further demonstrates the potential for collaboration and knowledge-sharing in enhancing the aviation industry. Likewise, it signifies CAAS’ strong friendship and relationship with the CAAP,” Tamayo said.
He said, CAAP looks forward to future collaborations with CAAS and other international aviation authorities to continue improving its operations and services. (dotr/pia-ncr)
