Iloilo's WVRAA winners to receive incentives

ILOILO CITY (PIA) –- Student athletes from Iloilo province will get cash awards for garnering medals during the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) meet held in Aklan.

They will earn P5,000 for every gold medal, P3,000 for silver, and P2,000 for bronze.

A report from the Iloilo provincial government said that coaches and trainers will also receive cash incentives for reaping medals under Provincial Ordinance No. 2020-217.

To note, the province has allotted P7.9 million assistance to the local delegates obtained from the Special Education Fund (SEF).

Meanwhile, Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division Superintendent Ma. Luz de los Reyes presented to Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. the trophies gained by Iloilo as the overall champion in the recently concluded regional sports meet.

Based on the record, Iloilo athletes hailed from the city and province logged a total of 229 gold, 154 silver, and 100 bronze medals for both elementary and secondary.
