CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) - - The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) - 2 and the Local Government Unit of Roxas have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the establishment of Social Welfare and Development (SWAD) satellite office in the town of Roxas.

The agreement was forged between DSWD - 2 Director Lucia Alan and Roxas Mayor Jonathan Calderon last week.

Alan said the establishment of SWAD satellite office in Isabela is the first in the region as ordered by DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian to render the needed social services of DSWD to the people.

“This SWAD satellite office in the town of Roxas is first in the region this year 2023 to bring the social services of DSWD closer to the residents of 5th Congressional District,” Alan said.

Meanwlhile, Calderon thanked the DSWD for establishing the SWAD satellite office in the town.

He said the residents in his town and the nearby municipalities will bring them relief in traveling expenses as the SWAD is already near to them unlike before that they have to travel to the City of Ilagan to submit and claim social services assistances.

“Malaking tulong ito upang mas mapabilis ang pagbibigay ng serbisyo sa ating mga residente. Hindi natin ito lilimitahan, sa halip magiging bukas ito sa lahat ng mga nangangailangan ng tulong,” Calderon said.

Among the social services that can be accommodated at the established SWAD satellite office will be Assistance to Individuals in Crisis situations, medical, burial, transportation assistance and several others.  (OTB/MGE / PIA Isabela)
