DOH logs more than 12K new COVID-19 cases in 1 week

QUEZON CITY, (PIA) -- Recorded cases of COVID-19 continue to rise after the Department of Health (DOH) recorded 12,414 new cases from May 8 to 14.

In a DOH Case Bulletin released on Monday, the latest figure is 31 percent higher compared to what was recorded in the previous week from May 1-7, wherein 1,773 average daily cases were also recorded for the week.

At least 50 patients were added to severe and critical cases. No casualties were recorded this past week.

Based on the DOH COVID-19 Tracker, there are currently 15,891 active cases of COVID-19 in the Philippines as of May 14.

In healthcare utilization, there are 437 patients in severe and critical admissions, which is 8.8% of the total hospital admissions in the entire country.

Meanwhile, about 18.8 percent or 394 of the 2,093 ICU beds are occupied, while 21.7 percent or 3,791 of the 17,454 non-ICU beds are filled with patients. (PIA-NCR)
