Cagayan farmers receive agri inputs from DA

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (PIA) - - Farmer cooperatives from this province have received various farm inputs from the Department of Agriculture Region 2 as interventions to improve the production of high value crops in the region.

Through the High Value Crops Development Program of the department, the Nararagan United Farmers Association in Ballesteros town was granted with 218 pieces of food grade plastic crates amounting to more than P100,000, the Pinopoc Rice and HVC Farmers Association in Alcala was awarded with 75 cans of ampalaya seeds, 75 packs of pole sitao seeds, 50 cans of upo seeds, 25 packs of okra seeds, 64 packs of 9-in-1 pack vegetable seeds, 75 cans of eggplant seeds, 1,080 packs of plant growth enhancer, and 370 food grade plastic crates all amounting to more than P900,000.

The Damurog White Corn Growers Association also in Alcala town received 370 pieces of food grade plastic crates amounting to more than 100,000 pesos while the Paraiso United Farmers Association in Solana town was given 50 packs of squash seeds, 100 cans of ampalaya seeds, 100 packs of pole sitao seeds, 30 cans of upo seeds, 75 cans of eggplant seeds, 43 packs of 9-in-1 pack vegetable seeds, 100 packs of plant growth enhancer, and 300 food grade plastic crates, all amounting to more than P900,000.

Awarded also to the Faire Mango Growers Association in Sto. Niño town were 500 boxes of potassium chloride, 85 pieces of food grade nestable stackable crates, 40 bags of input for mango flowering, and 40 bags of mango inducer amounting to more than P300,000 and the Piat Mango Growers Association in Piat town received 1,000 boxes of potassium chloride, 85 pieces of food grade nestable stackable crates, 40 bags of input for mango flowering, and 40 bags of mango inducer, all amounting to more than P500,000.

The Bical-Baliuag Farmers Association in Peñablanca was also granted with 200 pieces of food grade foldable perforated crates, 50 pieces of food grade nestable stackable crates, 40 bags of input for mango flowering, 40 bags of mango inducer, 200 bags of organic fertilizer, and 500 boxes potassium chloride, all amounting to more than P800,000, while the Illuru Sur Malaueg Mango Growers Workers Association in Rizal was given 1,000 boxes of potassium chloride, 100 pieces of food grade nestable stackable crates, 40 bags of input for mango flowering, and 40 bags of mango inducer, all amounting to more than P500,000.

Meanwhile, Maluyo-Cacao and Coffee Growers Association in Allacapan received 35 bags of controlled release fertilizer amounting to more than P100,000,  the Sanchez Mira Forest Development Association was given 50 bags of controlled release fertilizer amounting to more than P180,000, and the Racat Pineapple Growers Cooperative in Sta. Ana was awarded with 100 pieces of food grade foldable perforated crates and 100 bags of muriate of potash for pineapple, amounting to more than P300,000.

The Agricultural Trading Center of Solana, Cagayan in Lannig, Solana also received 500 pieces of 20-25-kilogram-capacity food grade plastic crates amounting to almost P250,000.
