BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) - - The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and the provincial government gave solid waste management equipments to two towns here.
The two sets of manual brick making and hollow block machines with mixers were given to the local government units of Dupax del Sur and Ambaguio.
Jonathan Nuestro, DOST provincial chief, said the equipment were acquired through their funding assistance to the provincial government .
Nuestro, along with Governor Jose Gambito, Vice Governor Eufemia Dacayo and Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer Tito Tanguilig handed the equipments to the LGUs.
“The primary objective of the initiative is to minimize residual waste by transforming it into usable and value-added products. We are challenging our recipients to maximize the potential of these equipments in addressing solid waste issues and concerns,” he said.
He said incorporating at least 50 percent plastic or non-biodegradable materials into the production of hollow blocks, bricks, and other related items will greatly reduce the solid waste in the two towns. (OTB/BME/PIA NVizcaya)
