MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--The Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG) here has firmly stated that safeguarding the environment is not only a duty that should be carried out by the government or just one individual, but rather an obligation that should be taken seriously by society.
"We should have a shared responsibility to protect our environment," said MILG-Marawi City Director Masbud Gaima II.
Gaima said the entire citizenry is involved in this concern, especially since the impacts brought about by the environment will be felt by everyone.
He explained that when the environment is well taken care of, it brings advantages. However, if it is neglected and taken for granted, disasters will come that will surely bring misery to the place where they hit.
Gaima emphasized that when this time comes, there won't be any exceptions for the victims because the calamities won't consider their class, age, gender, political aspirations, religion, or even skin color.
With this, he strongly urged a collective effort to advocate for environmental protection.
"We call on our people to take action on this and join endeavors for the environment because, at the end of the day, tayo lang naman ang magsasuffer. Kung mapoprotektahan naman natin ang ating environment, tayo lang naman ang magbebenefit," said Gaima.
