6 Capiz campus writers are IWAG 2023 awardees

ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) -- Six of the 41 IWAG 2023 Awardees of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) 6  are graduating campus paper writers in the province.

The four-decade-old IWAG Award is designed by the PIA 6 to give recognition to campus paper writers who excel in development communication and related fields including academic performance.

The IWAG awardees for secondary level from Capiz include Filamer Christian University's (FCU) The Hillside Echo - Senior publication associate editor Lhem Sejade L. Aborde and Ramon Benjamin Sr. National High School's (RABSNHS) The Radiance publication associate editor Kristine Alfuente.

FCU is based in Roxas City while RABSNHS is in Dumarao town.

For college level, the IWAG awardees from the province are FCU's The Hillside Echo writers Michael Jay A. Demingoy and Vanessa Glenise Usison; Hercor College's The Sentinel publication Editor-In-Chief Ma. Theresa Joy Dela Peña; and Capiz State University - Pontevedra campus' The CapSU Forum Editor-In-Chief Christian John Villamor.

"We extend our sincerest congratulations to the awardees, the publications and the schools for exemplifying the important role of development communicators with dedication and hardwork, proving to spark change in the community amid the 

challenges of time," stressed PIA 6 regional head EnP Cheryl B. Amor.

The awardees from the province form part of the 22 senior high school and 19 college IWAG 2023 awardees in Western Visayas.

For her part, PIA 6 training-in-charge Easter Anne Doza has encouraged the schools to continue to nurture more torchbearers of accurate and relevant information who may add up into the roster of IWAG awardees in the future. (AGP/AAL/PIA Capiz)
