BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) - - Board member Victor Gines, Liga ng mga Barangay President has asked FCF Minerals Corporation here for their assistance in the establishment of fruit tree nurseries, which will serve as a source of livelihood and tree planting activities of barangays in the province.
Gines said that several barangays in the province in the past years have established their cacao and coffeeproduction areas, which provided alternative livelihood for the communities.
“We hope that FCF Minerals Corporation will take serious consideration for the establishment of fruit tree nurseries in our barangays of Villaverde, Bayombong, Kayapa, and Ambaguio so that this livelihood project will be revived for the benefit of our villagers,” he said during a Sangguniang Panlalawigan session with the mining firm officials.
Gines also said that the barangays will identify their own areas for tree nursery plantation, which will be fully established in partnership with the FCF Minerals Corporation.
Forester Leopoldo Castro, Jr., FCF Minerals Corporation’s Manager on Sustainability said they are ready to assist the barangays in their effort to establish fruit tree nurseries.
He added that they have an existing agro-forestry in Quezon town covering 103 hectares with 283 beneficiaries and in Villaverde town which can be replicated in other barangays in the province.
“We are willing to help our barangays for their agro-forestry project . This will be done through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with us once these agro-forestry areas will be a feasible partnership project,” Castro said further. (BME/PIA NVizcaya)
