OVP’s ‘PagbaBAGo’ tree planting campaign launched in DavSur town

DAVAO CITY (PIA) -- The Office of the Vice President (OVP) recently launched its “PagbaBAGo: A Million Learners and a Million Trees” campaign in Barangay Managa in Bansalan, Davao del Sur, where around 900 seedlings of trees were planted.

The OVP, together with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources XI, led hundreds of students and teachers from all over the province, who participated in planting 700 seedlings of the bamboo trees and 200 seedlings of the narra tree variety.

The tree planting campaign was also brought to Sirib Elementary School in Barangay Sirib, Davao City, which was participated by Grades 5 and 6 students.

A total of 350 indigenous species of trees including white lauan, bagtikan and sagimsim were planted on the school site to achieve a disaster-proof and disaster-resilient community.

The said campaign is aimed at introducing environment conservation to young children and preparing them to be responsible and disciplined Filipinos who value their well-being, families and communities.

After every tree-planting activity, the OVP has also distributed goods to the participants and the residents of the communities. (FNBD/PIA-XI)
