Lanao del Sur PDRRMO, Marawi CDRRMO hold 2Q NSED in provincial jail

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--The Lanao del Sur Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (DRRMO) has teamed up with the Marawi City DRRMO, the Bureau of Fire Protection in the province, and other government agencies and conducted, June 8, the second quarter national simultaneous earthquake drill (NSED) at the provincial jail, here.

Before the drill, PDRRMO Research and Planning Division Chief Adil Robroy Macarambon, discussed with the persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) what to do during and after an earthquake.

He also taught the PDLs to sit in a duck position and cover their heads to avoid things that might fall on them, to hold or stay in the position first, and to avoid moving, walking, or running during an earthquake.

He reminded them that only after the earthquake could they leave and look for a safe place or an open area.

"Habang naglilindol 'wag kayong gumalaw. 'Wag kayong mataranta. Hintayin niyong matapos. Tignan niyo lang 'yung surrounding niyo habang naglilindol para alert kayo. Kapag matapos na 'yung lindol, pumunta kayo sa area na safe open space," he said.

(Do not move during an earthquake. Don't panic. Wait for it to end. Just look at your surroundings during the earthquake to be alert. When the earthquake is over, go to the safe open space area)

CDRRMO Head Sittie Rahma P. Maruhom said even though the PDLs are in jail and do not have the freedom to socialize with the community, it is still appropriate for them to know what to do in the event of an earthquake. (JND/PIA-10/Lanao del Sur)
