APPO reactivates police and defense press corps

KALIBO, Aklan (PIA) -- The Aklan Police Provincial Office (APPO) led the reactivation and reorganization of the Aklan Police and Defense Press Corps (APDPC) on June 14 at Camp Pastor Martelino, New Buswang here.

In the reactivation of APDPC, election of its new set of officers and oathtaking ceremony were held, aiming to improve and continue the harmonious relationship between the police and media in the province.

The newly-elected president of APDPC is Astrophel Tabanera of Aklan Cable TV and Joefel Magpusao of Energy FM Kalibo as Vice President.

Another set of officers are Jun Aguirre from GMA News TV as Secretary; Lyneth Mendoza of Barangay 92.9 Super Radyo Kalibo as Treasurer; Asst. Sec. Treasurer Kenneth Loveras from Kalibo Cable TV Network, and Auditor Sherry Anne Vidal of Brigada News FM Kalibo.

The Board of Directors are Roben Laserna of APCI; Reynald Bandiola from Radyo Todo Aklan; Arnel Relampago of Love Radio Kalibo; Darwin Tapayan from Bombo Radyo Kalibo; Malbert Dalida of Energy FM Kalibo; Ina Zambrona from YES FM Boracay, and Sheila Patoza of PIA Aklan.

“I personally concede with the statement of our PNP Chief PGEN Benjamin Acorda that the media per se are good partners in seeking truth and justice. With the hope of an improved partnership between the media and the police through the reactivation and reorganization of APDPC, I am certain that we can be more competent in the field of media relations,” said Romanillos in his speech.

The top cop of the province likewise announced that all the units of APPO have formally designated focal officers for media security as an appreciation for their continued support and partnership.

“As you are our partners in delivering timely and rightful information to the public, threats to your lives shall be given immediate action,” he added.

Meanwhile, the new APDPC President Tabanera vowed that the relationship between the police and the media will continue to be harmonious to deliver transparent and accurate information to the public.

Also present during the event were Police Lieutenant Colonel Alvin V Balio, Deputy Provincial Director for Administration, other APPO officials, and the chiefs of police of the 17 municipalities of Aklan together with their respective Police Community Relations Officers. (AGP/SQP/PIA Aklan)
