CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) - - The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) - Philippine Textile Research Institute is set to launch the yarn production and innovation center in Isabela on June 23, 2023.

The production and innovation facility which is located at the Isabela State University (ISU) - Ilagan Campus is a DOST Grants-In-Aid funded project entitled ‘Establishment of Regional Yarn Production and Innovation Center (RYPIC)  - Northern Luzon.

DOST - PTRI Director Julius Leano Jr said the establishment of the facility aims to strengthen the local textile ecosystem and bridge the gaps in textile supply chain by enabling the conversion of natural raw materials into spinnable fibers for yarn processing and production.

Leano said the blessing and ribbon cutting of the facility is expected to be attended by high ranking officials from DOST led by Secretary Renato Solidum, Senators Maria Nancy Binay - Angeles, Loren Legarda, Raffy Tulfo and ISU officials as well.

He said messages of commitment will be delivered by City of Ilagan Mayor Josemarie L. Diaz, DOST Region 2 Director Virginai Bilgera and ISU - Ilagan Campus Executive Director Alfonso Simon while messages of support will be delivered by 1st District Congressman Antonio Albano, Former DOST - PTRI Director Celia Elumba, former DOST Secretary Fortunato Dela Pena, DOT 2 Regional Director Troy Alexander Miano, DTI 2 Regional Director Romleah Juliet Ocampo, Indigenous Enable Craft Founder Andrea Aswigue and Governor Rodolfo Albano III.
