Mine firm gives donation to Didipio school

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) - -  The Oceana Gold Philippines, Inc. (OGPI) has donated some educational equipment to a school in Kasibu town to boost its instructional learning system.

Atty. Joan Adaci-Cattiling,  OGPI president and general manager for External Affairs and Social Performance, said the assistance is part of the Diddipio Mine’s  strengthened partnerships for education with various stakeholders under its Social Development and Management Program (SDMP) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs.

The P1.7 million worth of instructional equipments was given to the Eastern Nueva Vizcaya National High School in Barangay Didipio through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) .

“This is part of the P7 million the company earmarked in 2016, under its CSR program, to support K-12 initiatives,” she said.

 Adaci-Cattiling also signed another MOA with the Department of Education (DepEd) for the provision of subsidy for hired teachers for these schools. Which is part of the mine’s SDMP.

The MOAs were signed by Dr. Orlando Manuel, DepEd Schools Division Superintendent and  Oscar Castro Jr., ENVHNS Head Teacher and  witnessed by Barangay Kagawad Henry Guay, Chairman of the Committee on Education of Barangay Didipio, teachers and Megan Saussey, OceanaGold Corporation Executive Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer, among others.
