Iloilo Gov. Arthur Defensor, Jr., on his part, acknowledged how climate change has affected the power situation, not just in the province, but in the whole country, noting that Local Government Units (LGUs) should continue working closely with stakeholders to implement RE projects.
“We look forward to working closely with key players in renewable energy. Together, we will combat emergency and crisis situations brought about by lingering conditions we call climate change,” Defensor said, who also attended the 2023 Investment Forum for Regional Energy after the media conference.
In the last quarter of 2022, the UNDP and DOE also recognized the province for its commitment towards RE through the passage of the I-PORE (Iloilo Provincial Ordinance for RE) and the installation of 75 KW rooftop solar PV (photovoltaic) project at the Iloilo Provincial Hospital, which was realized under the DREAMS (Development for Renewable Energy Applications Mainstreaming and Market Sustainability) Project of the DOE in partnership with the UNDP and Global Environmental Facility.
The provincial government also initiated Rooftop Solar PV Installation in three other district hospitals
