MisOr prov’l tourism council to boost ECC’s for tourist establishments

MISAMIS ORIENTAL (PIA)--The Environmental Management Bureau (EMB)-10 disclosed that they will work alongside the Misamis Oriental Provincial Tourism Council in aiding tourism establishments to acquire Environmental Compliance Certificates (ECCs) and ensure that compliance will be maintained alongside its upgrades.

This was discussed in the second quarterly meeting of the Misamis Oriental Provincial Tourism Council, July 4, citing the council’s thrust towards ensuring environmental protection in conjunction with its developmental plans for the province’s natural wonders and resources.

"There needs to be a balance in our growth, we can develop while maintaining environmental integrity," Misamis Oriental Provincial Planning and Development Office Head Stanley Uriarte shared.

The ECC contains specific measures and conditions that the project proponent has to undertake before and during the project's abandonment phase to mitigate the identified environmental impacts. As of June 2023, the province of Misamis Oriental currently comprises 3,451 out of the total 7,748 ECCs in Northern Mindanao.
