TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (PIA) - - After successfully passing all the phases of recruitment of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), a total of 49 Jail Officers 1 applicants took their oath on July 3, 2023 at BJMP Regional Office II in this city.

During the oath taking ceremony led by Bureau Regional Director Jail Chief Superintendent Brendan O Fulgencio, he expressed his high hopes that the newly appointed Jail Officers 1, of which 37 are male and 12 are female, will be an additional force in maintaining the operations of all the bureau’s managed jails.

“Simula sa araw na ito, patuloy ninyong linangin ang inyong mga sarili upang magampanan ng mahusay ang inyong mga responsibilidad. Patunayan ninyo na hindi kami nagkamali sa pagpili sa inyo, patunayan ninyo sa taumbayan na karapat-dapat kayo sa tiwalang pinagkakaloob nila sa inyo bilang kawani ng gobyerno, at patunayan ninyo sa inyong mga mahal sa buhay na karapat-dapat kayong ipagmalaki. Kaya umiwas kayo sa mga maling gawain, dahil hindi lang sarili ninyo ang ipapahiya ninyo kungdi pati lahat ng myembro ng inyong pamilya,” the regional director said.

“Bilang regional director, umaasa ako na maging katuwang namin kayo upang maipadama sa mga PDL ang makataong pagtrato; umaasa kami na maging matatag kayo laban sa anumang pagsubok ng katiwalian upang patuloy tayong makapagsilbi na may integridad”, he added.

Once they complete the training, the Jail Officers 1 will beef up the personnel strength of the BJMP Cagayan Valley Region which operates 14 districts and four municipal jails.

At present, the region has a total jail population of 2,201 Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL).

The recruitment process of the Bureau started in January 2023 wherein more than 600 applicants filed their applications for the position of Jail Officer 1. (OTB/MDCT/PIA Cagayan)
