In a kick-off activity for the celebration of ‘No Smoking Month’ and ‘Nutrition Month’ held July 6, the LGU spearheaded a choral contest dubbed as the ‘Awit Kontra Bisyo’ and hip-hop dance contest dubbed as ‘Sayaw Kontra Bisyo’.

The events, according to Vice Mayor Ma. Olivia Pascual, are a call to action and a message to all Lalloqueños to quit smoking and excessive liquor drinking.

"Love yourself, love your family, and love your life. LGU Lal-lo is doing its best and making progress in helping Lalloqueño youth and their families know more about the ill-effects of these vices and their right to health", she added.

DOH Regional Director Dr. Amelita Pangilinan, who served as guest of honor during the events, said that when we invest in nutrition, good practices, and a healthy lifestyle, we achieve good health and well-being.

The director further urged those individuals who are still smoking to quit smoking now, and start investing in health and nutrition, as no amount of money can ever replace the results of raising healthy children.  (OTB/MDCT/PIA Cagayan)
