LAGAWE, Ifugao (PIA) - - The Provincial Health Office (PHO) called anew the public to exert all actions against the dengue disease as the province recorded increase of cases for the first semester this year.
PHO Supervising Sanitary Inspector Saturnino Angiwan disclosed that from January to June 19, 2023, the province recorded 286 dengue cases, higher than the 267 reported for the same period in 2022.
The municipalities of Asipulo, Banaue, Hungduan, Lagawe, Lamut and Mayoyao showed increase of dengue cases.
Dengue incidents decreased in the towns of Aguinaldo, Alfonso Lista, Hingyon Kiangan, and Tinoc while cases in
Angiwan reiterated for the community to always practice the five “S” strategy, the Search and destroy mosquito breeding sites; uphold Self-protection like using of insect repellents; Seek early consultation at the nearest health care facility; Support fogging, spraying, and misting in hot spot areas, and Sustain hydration.
He also shared some of the activities being conducted such as the sustainment of the Philippine Integrated Disease Surveillance Response (PIDSR); weekly operation “taob” by the Dengue Brigades; larval survey; prepositioning of indoor residual spraying ang space spraying, distribution of rapid diagnostic test kits and information dissemination including the observance of ASEAN Dengue Day.
Provincial Administrator Abelardo Yogyog lauded the efforts of all health care providers in the province for providing the health needs of the people. He stressed that the prevention of dengue is not only the work of health care providers but all stakeholders. (JDP/MBL, PIA CAR, Ifugao)
