DOLE Quirino organizes Provincial Furniture Industry Tripartite Council

CABARROGUIS, Quirino (PIA) - - The Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office No. 2 (DOLE RO2) through its Quirino Field Office (QFO) recently convened the furniture owners and makers in the province for the creation of the Provincial Furniture Industry Tripartite Council (PFITC).

Led by DOLE-QFO Chief, Geraldine Balico-Labayani, the organization of the PFITC, was participated by the Bureau of Internal Revenue, Department of Trade and Industry, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Department of Science and Technology, the Provincial Natural Resources and Environment Office, Environmental Management Bureau, and the Business Permit and Licensing Office of LGU-Diffun.

The set of PFITC officers are Chairman- DOLE IFO Chief Geraldine Labayani; Co-Chairman- Governor Dakila Carlo E. Cua; Vice Chairman for Employers' Group- Alberto Cadavis Jr.; and Vice Chairman for Employees' Group- Roland Cerezo.

Governor Cua, who led the election and oath taking of the new set of officers were by Gov. Cua has expressed intention for the furniture industry to participate in international exhibits.

According to Julex Biagan, DOLE-QFO’s focal person for tripartism and social dialogue, the council is tasked to review existing labor, economic and social policies and evaluate local development affecting the furniture industry.

Also, the council shall support the DOLE and other attached agencies in the resolution of industrial disputes.

During the meeting, Florie Ann Prasad, regional focal for Industry Tripartite Council discussed tripartism and social dialogue.

Meanwhile, the newly organized PFITC convened recently at the LDRRMO Function Hall and discussed the following topics: Creation of Internal Policy, Constitution and By-Laws, mandates/ suggestions of National Agencies and Conduct of Occupational Safety and Health.
