WWF-PH recognizes Manila as active partner in combating plastic pollution

QUEZON CITY, (PIA) – The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) - Philippines recognized the City Government of Manila as one of its active partner in combating plastic pollution and reducing plastic marine litters in our country.

The prestigious award of recognition was received by the Department of Public Services Officer-In-Charge Ms. Kayle Nicole Amurao and City Council Committee Chair for Environmental Protection and Ecological Preservation Timothy Oliver “Tol” Zarcal at the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Central Office.

Plastic Smart Cities (PSC) Project aims to achieve 30% reduction of plastic waste leakage into the open environment by 2024, thus, contributing to the 100% reduction of plastic waste leakage in the City of Manila by 2030.

The project partnership of the City of Manila with WWF Philippines aims to focus on generating entrepreneurial solutions designed to accomplish the main objective of reducing plastic pollution in the City. (pio manila/pia-ncr)
