LAGAWE, Ifugao(PIA) - - As a proactive move to prevent the entry of African Swine Fever (ASF) in the province, the provincial local government unit has reactivated the two Provincial Animal Quarantine Checkpoints (PAQC) in Lamut town.
Governor Jerry Dalipog ordered the re-establishment of said PAQCs at the Lamut bridge and at barangay Pieza to monitor and regulate the entry, movement, distribution and sale of swine pork and processed meat products .
Dalipog said there is an urgent need for wider and more stringent measures to prevent the infection of swine/pigs or pork by the ASF to safeguard the province’s swine industry and to protect the general public.
Individuals planning to transport animals to the province have to secure shipping permit from the Provincial Veterinary Office at the point of origin of the animals to be presented to the quarantine officers at the checkpoints for inspection.
Animals without shipping permits, dead animals and live animals showing signs of illness or severe parasitic infestation shall not be allowed entry into the province. These also include meat or uncooked processed meat that do not have certificate of meat inspection from concerned office. (JDP/MBL- PIA CAR, Ifugao)
