Bye-bye connectivity for unregistered SIMs -DICT

MANILA, (PIA) -- The Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) reminded that Subscriber Identity Module or SIM cards that have not been registered will lose connectivity by Wednesday, July 26, in accordance with the SIM Registration Act.

"Please, register now because by 12:01 of July 26 there will be no more connectivity for those who did not register a SIM card," reminded DICT Chief Ivan John Uy.

It can be recalled that the government extended the SIM registration deadline in the country for another 90 days on April 25, 2023, one day before the original deadline.

Because of this, the extended SIM registration deadline is set to expire this Tuesday 25, a move that will not be extended again.

Despite the deactivation of unregistered SIMs after the deadline, the DICT said that a five-day grace period will be allowed for the reactivation of disconnected SIMs.

As of July 23, 2023, 105,260,340 SIM cards have been registered, which is 62.5 percent of the total 168,016,400 subscriber base in the country. (PIA-NCR)
