LTFRB-10 records zero transpo strike for SONA 2023

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)--With the pronouncement and call for a nationwide transport strike of the group MANIBELA on the day of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.’s State of the Nation Address, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB)-10 held a region-wide monitoring of the status of transportation, July 24.

The call for the three-day strike made by MANIBELA’s President Mar Valbuena is due to their protest on the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP), wherein they consider the program LTFRB’s way of killing the traditional jeepney.

Despite the call of MANIBELA for the different jeepney operators and drivers to join them, LTFRB-10 had recorded zero transport strikes in the region.

Moreover, the transport group in the region guarantees the public that there will be no transport strike that will take place even in the succeeding days since they are in full support of the government's Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program.

Different transport services groups, such as Misamis Iligan Lanao Transport Services Cooperative (MILTRASCO), Dalipuga Transport SVC Cooperative (DATRANSCO), Ozamiz-Tudela Transport Express Corporation (OTTEC), and Ozamiz-Oroquieta-Dipolog Transport Services Cooperative (OZORDITRANSCO), had also released their statements of support for the LTFRB and PUV Modernization Program of the government.

The LTFRB-10 assures the public that they will continue to monitor the flow of public utility vehicles to ensure smoother and safer travel for the commuting public. (JAKA/PIA-10)
