QUEZON CITY, (PIA) -- More than 1,406 families or 4,600 individuals in Quezon City were evacuated by the local government due to continuous floodwater rise in water in the Marikina River due to the rains.

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte personally visited the evacuees at the evacuation centers in Brgy. Bagong Silangan.

Belmonte wants to make sure the evacuated residents are safe and have enough food to eat.

The mayor also instructed the QC Health Department to have doctors examine sick residents and make sure there is enough medicine for them.

The Marikina River alert has been lifted but the evacuated residents have not yet been allowed to return to their homes.

They are expected to remain in evacuation centers until the rains caused by typhoons Falcon and habagat or southwest monsoon continue. (PIA-NCR)
