PCG strengthens marine protection in Puerto Princesa Bay

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan (PIA) -- The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) District Palawan is committed to continuously protecting and preserving the marine environment of Puerto Princesa Bay through clean-up efforts.

This include PCG’s program dubbed as 'Scubasurero and Scoop Basura' participated by various stakeholders in celebration of the 55th founding anniversary of PCG District Palawan.

Coast Guard Lieutenant Junior Grade (CG LTJG) Mona Rizza C. Villacillo, Commander of the Marine Environmental Force-Palawan (Mepforce-Pal) said the efforts are regularly conducted by the PCG to collect the trash from the ocean which commonly came from household disposals. "Karamihan ay galing sa bahay like water bottles, plastic wrappers ng pagkain," Villacillo said.

"Itong one-time big time [activity], which is the three activities ay pangalawang taon namin ito— to help, preserve, and protect yung ating Puerto Princesa Bay laban sa mapanirang basura na pumapasok dito," Villacillo added.
