VIRAC, Catanduanes (PIA)- The ‘Kadiwa ng Pangulo’ program was launched at Virac Town Plaza as part of its simultaneous nationwide launching yesterday, July 17, 2023.
The KNP is an inter-agency collaboration, implemented in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Social Work and Development (DSWD), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
According to William Aldea, (DILG) Catanduanes cluster head, the KADIWA in the province will be held every 15th and 30th of every month this 2023 at Virac Town Plaza from 08:00 am to 5:00 pm.
He emphasized that KNP is among the programs of the Marcos administration that aims to address the rising food prices and to give farmers, fisherfolks as well as micro-, small-, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) rent-free venues to sell their produce and increase their income.
Meanwhile, Governor Joseph C. Cua expressed his gratitude and support to the launching of KNP in the province.
According to him, the program will make it easier for the products and produce to reach the consumers and ensure that nothing will go to waste due to long travel time considering the distances of places in the province.
Gov. Cua added that KNP is also a big help to food security of the country. He also urge the public to support local producers and businesses in the province.
During the launching, DOLE conducted cash payout for 280 beneficiaries of TUPAD program from Bato and Virac municipalities or a total of P1,022,000 at P3,650 each .
On the other hand, National Food Authority (NFA) rice amounting Php 25.00 per kilogram during the launching as it was purchased directly by the agency from the local farmers. According to, Andrew Zandrex Austero II, Acting Warehouse Supervisor of NFA-Catanduanes, based in their survey the current price of rice in the market ranges from Php 40-43 per kg.
Also being sold in KNP are basic goods, manufactured foods, farm products, and other locally made products and produced goods.
